WHAT IS URBAN CNC?
Urban CNC is designer and manufacturer of engineered CNC Machines and Accessories. Urban CNC also manufactures custom and Urban CNC branded products. Making consumer products allows Urban CNC to demonstrate the machine capabilities and test new designs and techniques.
GOALS OF URBAN CNC
The goal of Urban CNC is to simplify computer controlled manufacturing for home and hobby businesses. We say business because your CNC router should be part of a business. Looking at your CNC machines from a business point of view won’t take the fun out of it. Instead a business approach will give you incentive to improve your skills and allow you to save money.
WHY IS MAKING MONEY IMPORTANT?
Hobbies are fun, but they are usually expensive. Making your hobby revenue neutral or profitable allows you to buy better equipment. With better equipment you can spend more time on the tasks you enjoy.
Example: A cheaper router will have poor cut quality, so it will require more sanding or polishing. I’d rather spend my time creating new products instead of sanding.
AUTOMATE EVERYTHING!
We believe we should automate as many tasks as possible. For a hobby business, time is the greatest value. By automating processes, you will be able to get more work done and complete more projects.
Why spend your free time doing the boring, repetative tasks when we can automate them. Isn’t that why we are interested in CNC machines?
MAKE CNC EASY FOR EVERYONE
Computer Numerically Controlled machines are not simple. They are a combination of complex mechanisms, electronics and programming that work together to move a tool.
CNC might sound scary but think about cellphones. A cellphone is a complex electronic device that even your grandma can use. Urban CNC intends to make CNC easy to use.
This will be achieved two ways:
- Creating software, tutorials, instruction and automation.
- Creating an Urban CNC community where members can collaborate and solve each other’s problems.
